Two charged for felony theft in UI Library larceny

On Thursday University of Illinois police recovered about 100 DVDs and video games stolen from the University of Illinois Undergraduate Library from the apartment of two Champaign women. 21-year-old UI student Laura Cordova, and her 21-year-old roommate Victoria Lopez, were arraigned Friday in Champaign County Circuit Court on felony charges of burglary and theft. Lopez was also charged with "misuse of a credit card." The additional charge against Lopez alleges possession of stolen debit and credit cards belonging to a woman whose wallet had been stolen from a locker at a UI workout facility on April 29.

UI police Lt. Roy Acree said that library officials had contacted the police about the thefts in early September, prompting police to install security cameras.
