Nimbuzz 2.0.2 for Android brings HD voice support, other improvements

Nimbuzz HD voiceNimbuzz, one of the best-known cross-platform multi-IM and VOIP clients, has updated its Android application to version 2.0.2. The main addition here is added support for 'HD voice' (which is just a very fancy way of saying that it supports the AMR-WB codec). The improved voice quality is only available on Nimbuzz-to-Nimbuzz calls at the moment, and both parties need to have version 2.0.2 for Android installed for it to work. Calls are now made via a direct connection between the two mobile devices, without going through a Nimbuzz server as before. Thus, connections will be made faster. Support for HD voice for Nimbuzz on other platforms will come in the future.

Also in this update are a few other improvements. You can now install the app to the SD card on Android 2.2 or newer, the My Profile page has received an update, and the contact list has a new layout -- the status icons are on the right, display pictures are on the left, and community icons show up in the bottom right corner.

Nimbuzz 2.0.2 for Android is now available to download from the Android Market -- the QR Code is after the break.
